At the end of 2017 the project on integrated solid waste management planning for Colombia’s San Andres Archipelago was completed.
Earlier that year the Interamerican Development Bank awarded the project to the Island Waste’s network.
The two main issues for the solid waste management plan were
(1) to find a solution for the enormous amount of waste electric and electronic equipment (WEEE) and
(2) to prepare for the operation of the island’s solid waste incineration plant that was installed in 2010-2012.
